In September last year, three men broke into a Birmingham home and threatened a woman at knifepoint whilst alone with her young daughter and six-week-old baby. The defendants demanded her car keys and phone.

The Police were called and one defendant was arrested near the scene. The following day, two men returned carrying knives and were arrested nearby.

Following a 9 day trial at Birmingham Crown Court, two defendants were convicted of aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article. They were sentenced to ten and nine years’ imprisonment respectively. The remaining defendant was convicted of domestic burglary and received a 21-month sentence, suspended for two years.

Clare Rennie was instructed by Daniel Tonks of West Midlands CPS.
