Clare Rennie

Introduction

Clare is regularly instructed to defend in Crown Court trials, as well as defending and prosecuting in the Magistrates’ Court. Her developing criminal practice has been varied, exposing her to a variety of cases including serious violence, drugs, and offensive weapons. She has also represented youths in both the Youth and Crown Court, including recently securing an acquittal where a client was charged with sexual assault. She has experience in handling vulnerable witnesses. Clare is a CPS Grade 1 prosecutor and has represented the Crown in numerous appeals against sentence and conviction.

In her regulatory practice, Clare receives instructions to defend and prosecute in a variety of areas including taxi licensing, food hygiene and trade mark offences. She regularly advises local councils, and she has represented clients in several Crown Court trials. Clare is looking to develop her practice in Education matters such as exclusion and admissions appeals due to her previous experience as a secondary school teacher.

Outside of work, Clare is an avid football fan and travels as often as she possibly can!
