The Defendant had driven his car into a crowd of young adults on the pavement outside a takeaway in Oswestry. The Crown’s case was that he had done so deliberately in an effort to seriously injure someone in the group. He hit and killed a young woman. She sustained catastrophic internal injuries, due to being dragged under the car as it proceeded through the group and on up the street.

The defendant also injured two young men. He admitted manslaughter and assault but denied murder and attempting to cause GBH. The conviction followed a 2 week trial before Mr Justice Jeremy Baker at Stafford Crown Court.
