Introduction

She is a member of Chambers’ Business and Property Group, specialising in insolvency, commercial litigation and company law disputes. Natalie regularly appears as sole counsel in both the County Court and the High Court, handling interim applications and trials across the fast and multi tracks.

Natalie is consistently instructed by clients for both advisory work and the settlement of proceedings across all areas of commercial law and welcomes involvement at an early stage of proceedings.

She brings a grounded, client-focused approach to litigation, having worked at a solicitor’s firm before coming to the Bar.

Natalie is a member of Chambers’ Pupillage Committee, has written for well-established practitioner resources, and regularly delivers seminars.

Insolvency

Natalie is ranked by the directories as a leading junior in insolvency work. Her recent cases include Lime & Black BPS Limited (in Liquidation) v Gill [2024] EWHC 1898 (Ch), in which she appeared as junior counsel, led by Ali Tabari, in a multi-million-pound claim by a liquidator against a de facto director involving a fraud perpetrated on HMRC.

As part of her corporate insolvency practice, as well as advising and acting in common claims against directors or shareholders, she regularly acts in applications to obtain or extend administration orders and has acted in a range of procedural applications arising from administration and liquidation, including applications concerning office-holders’ remuneration.

In personal insolvency, Natalie has appeared in contested petitions, applications to annul bankruptcies and set aside statutory demands, and advised officeholders in relation to recovery options involving service out of the jurisdiction. She has also acted as junior counsel in relation to obtaining injunctive relief in relation to crypto-assets involving cross-border issues.

Natalie regularly delivers seminars and speaks at professional networking events, including regional R3 events.

Recent cases include:

  • Lime & Black BPS Limited (in Liquidation) v Gill [2024] EWHC 1898 (Ch) – junior counsel, led by Ali Tabari, in a trial concerning allegations of de facto directorship, breach of duty, dishonest assistance and conspiracy arising from a multi-million-pound VAT fraud carried out by the company.
  • Successfully obtained an administration order for a company where the application was opposed by its former owner with allegations that a key document was forged.
  • Obtained a further extension of an administration in circumstances where the conclusion of the administration was complicated by a European Commission investigation as well as Competition Appeal Tribunal proceedings into anti-competitive conduct.
  • Advised and acted for a trustee in bankruptcy seeking an income payments order involving applications for service out of the jurisdiction across several jurisdictions.

Commercial

Natalie undertakes a broad range of commercial litigation, both as led junior and sole counsel. Her recent cases include complex disputes involving breaches of contact, conspiracy and economic torts, and the imposition of constructive trusts in a family-owned company.

She has also obtained several Extended Civil Restraint Orders against vexatious litigants.

Recent cases include:

  • Relation to proceedings to obtain a declaration as to the ownership of shares in a company, including successfully opposing an application for summary judgment and/or strike out. (Trial conducted by Ali Tabari as Natalie was on maternity leave)
  • Patel v Parker [2023] EWHC 1979 (Ch) – acted for the second and third defendants in relation to an application to add them as parties and provided subsequent advice, pleadings, and representation in relation to claims for alleged dishonest assistance, knowing receipt, unlawful means conspiracy, and unjust enrichment.
  • Advised and drafted pleadings in proceedings relating to assigned causes of action involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duties, constructive trusts, allegations as to forged Declarations of Trust, and limitation.

Company

Natalie advises and represents shareholders and directors and has acted in a broad spectrum of cases, including unfair prejudice petitions, partnership dissolutions, and voluntary liquidations.

Recent cases include:

  • Company and Partnerships
    • Butt v Butt [2024] EWHC 3222 (Ch) – advised and acted for a shareholder in relation to proceedings to obtain a declaration as to the ownership of shares in a company, including successfully opposing an application for summary judgment and/or strike out. (Trial conducted by Ali Tabari as Natalie was on maternity leave)
    • Assisted as second junior in the unfair prejudice and partnership dissolution litigation in relation to Loveridge v Loveridge [2021] EWCA Civ 1697 (and several subsequent related hearings)

Banking & Financial Services

Natalie has extensive experience acting for large multinational banks and financial institutions in relation to ‘unfair relationship’ claims arising from payment protection insurance policies, including issues surrounding limitation.
