Lillian Garnier joined Chambers in October 2025 on successful completion of pupillage under the supervision of Sarah Buxton and Jonathan Nosworthy. Lillian accepts instructions in financial remedies, cohabitee disputes, and private and public law children.
Since April 2025, Lillian has been instructed in a wide range of hearings. Within the context of financial remedies, she has represented clients at FDA, FDR (including pFDR), on appeal to the CMS tribunal, and in TLATA disputes. Lillian’s children law practice has encompassed multi-day fact finding hearings, appeals on the issue of interim contact, permission hearings for leave to apply, complex Family Law Act applications with ancillary trust disputes, and cases concerning serious allegations of abuse. During her second six, Lillian also appeared in the High Court in her own right, successfully obtaining a Forced Marriage Protection Order for her client.
Prior to commencing pupillage Lillian worked as a paralegal within the International Children Team of a specialist family law firm in London. Lillian gained experience across a wide range of public and private law children matters, adoption, international abduction, surrogacy, and also divorce and financial remedy disputes. Whilst at the Firm, Lillian also wrote articles summarising recent changes to Family Law, undertook advocacy on behalf of the domestic violence team, and gained valuable experience in navigating highly emotive situations. Lillian also has previous experience working within a leading offshore Commercial Litigation team in Jersey, primarily assisting with trust and company law disputes concerning high net-worth individuals.
Lillian studied the Bar Practice Course on a part-time basis whilst working as a paralegal. During this time, she competed in various mooting competitions and most notably achieved a place in the final of the 1GC Family Law Moot. As a result of her performance, Lillian was awarded marshalling experience in the High Court with Mrs Justice Morgan and Mr Justice Hayden where she observed a wide variety of cases, including those heard in the Court of Protection.
Before coming to the Bar, Lillian trained as a classical concert pianist at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, winning a prestigious RBC Scholarship to fund her studies and the Jersey Young Musician of the Year competition. She has performed and competed both nationally and internationally.
Outside of the law, Lillian is a keen middle-distance runner and enjoys spending her free time hiking, travelling and scuba-diving, and of course, playing the piano.
