Christopher Buckingham TEP: The Deceased’s Home After Death

Christopher Buckingham TEP will give a talk concerning issues arising from what is often the major asset of an Estate including security, occupation charges and possession.

John Aldis TEP: Costs in trusts and probate litigation 

This talk will discuss the Re Buckton categories and the special probate rules, including their application in recent cases.

Charles Towl: Better to ask forgiveness? No! Trustee decision making and Public Trustee v Cooper Applications

When faced with a particularly momentous decision or uncertainty over the scope of their powers, trustees will be well-advised to seek the court’s guidance. Usually, this will be in the form of a Public Trustee v Cooper application. In this session, Charles Towl will provide a deep dive into the key law and practice underpinning these applications as well as practical tips and tricks when advising clients.

Raghav Trivedi: Modernising Wills Law: The Impact of the Law Commission’s Proposals and Recommendations

Raghav Trivedi will be considering the Law Commission’s proposals and recommendations for reform and a new Wills Act and, by way of comparison with the current state of the law, the positives and negatives of the recommendations and proposals and what a practitioner should expect if the proposals and recommendations are approved.
