St Philips would like to congratulate former member of Chambers, The Honourable Mr Justice Stephen Eyre, on his appointment as a High Court Judge, assigned to the Queen’s Bench Division.

Mr Justice Eyre enjoyed a thriving commercial and chancery practice whilst at St Philips. During practice he acted as a mediator and sat as a Recorder, a judge in the Mental Health Tribunal; and as a judge in the Ecclesiastical Courts. He took Silk in 2015 and was appointed a Circuit Judge in the same year. In 2016 he was authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge in the Queen’s Bench and Chancery Divisions. In 2017 he was appointed as a Specialist Civil Circuit Judge sitting in the Business and Property Courts.

He was officially sworn in on Wednesday 10th November. The ceremony was presided over by the Lord Chief Justice whose address was replied to on behalf of the Bar by long standing colleague and current head of St Philips Chambers, Richard Atkins QC.

We wish Mr Justice Eyre every success in the next chapter of his judicial career.
