Henry Skudra, led by Dafydd Enoch KC, secured lengthy prison sentences in a case involving police corruption and money laundering. This had followed an investigation by the Met’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command.

Following the successful prosecution of a lengthy trial of two of the defendants earlier this year, the judge sentenced a group of individuals for their roles in laundering £millions in cash from drug-dealing from Dubai.

One of them, a Metropolitan Police police officer who later became a police civilian employee, corruptly misused police intelligence and computer systems to further the money laundering enterprise and to ascertain details of assistance to criminals. He also made numerous unlawful searches for personal information.

The former police officer was sentenced to 9 years’ imprisonment, with others receiving sentences totalling almost a further 20 years. Confiscation proceedings are to follow.
