At St Philips Chambers, we want to demystify the pupillage application process, enabling aspiring barristers to understand exactly what our selection process involves. Thatโ€™s why our Pupillage Committee has published its latest review of our most recent recruitment round.

This is the third time weโ€™ve opened up our process in this way, with the aim of providing transparency and practical guidance for those considering an application.

Highlights from our review include:

โœ… A stage-by-stage look at the process, from written applications to final interviews

โœ… Insights into what helped candidates stand out and what proved less effective

โœ… Reflections on what worked well and where candidates could have improved their chances of success

โœ… Key statistics on applicants by gender, age, and ethnicity

In 2025, we recruited four pupils to start in October 2026, each taking a specialist pupillage.

Please share this post with anyone you know who is planning to apply for pupillage in the new year.
