Inquests & Coronial

Overview

The St Philips Inquest Team are highly motivated regulatory barristers who offer levels of experience and representation right across the professional spectrum. The team can cover everything from deaths in custody and medical institutions to fatalities in the workplace, unlawful killings and accidental deaths.

Whether the death is a precursor to civil or criminal action, St Philips can offer continuity of representation right through the inquisitorial and legal proceedings.

The Human Rights Act has had a significant effect on the conduct of inquests particularly with the imposition of the investigative obligation under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Members of the group regularly appear in cases that engage Article 2 whether for families, employers, employees and Government Departments.

The Team also offers lectures and training sessions aimed at ensuring those who deal with parties at inquests do so with the right level of professionalism and care.
