Millie Hainge

Introduction

Millie Hainge joined chambers as a Crime and Regulatory pupil in October 2024. She is under the supervision of William Douglas-Jones.

Millie commenced the practicing period of her pupillage in April 2025. Since then, she has undertaken a varied practice in both criminal law and regulatory law, being instructed both to prosecute and defend.

Millie is a CPS grade 1 prosecutor and has prosecuted several short matters in the Crown Court, most noticeably, appeals against conviction and sentence from the Magistrates to the Crown Court, which have resulted in conviction and sentence being upheld.

Millie is also regularly instructed as defence counsel and has now conducted several Crown Court trials, including a trial of the act. Millie has represented multiple defendants who has have been deemed unfit to plead and has ensured that they have received the appropriate disposals under the Mental Health Act 1983.

As part of her developing regulatory practice, Millie is regularly instructed to represent local authorities in a wide variety of cases from taxi licence appeals to breaches of community protection notices. Millie has also prosecuted several cases on behalf of the RSPCA and successfully secured convictions and disqualification orders, to prevent defendants from owning animals.

In her spare time, Millie enjoys reading a variety of novels, particularly crime and thrillers, and is an avid musical theatre fan.
