Introduction

Amy Jackson is a Barrister specialising in Criminal law.  She has a very strong practice in the Crown Court.  Her experience includes regular instruction in cases of murder, violence, firearms, drugs and grave sexual offences.

Amy is known for her exceptional client care, often being instructed to represent youths or those with neurodiversity.  She is also renowned for her detailed preparation, and high level of advocacy.

She is often instructed on a private basis, experienced in advising from pre-charge, and at every step to trial.

Amy also prosecutes offences across the spectrum.  She holds membership on the CPS Advocates Panels for RASSO, General Crime and Serious Organised Crime at Level 3.

Notable Cases

R v LT (2024)

  • Instructed to represent a mother charged with causing/allowing the death of her child. Led by King’s Counsel in this extremely complex and sensitive matter involving the challenge of multiple experts.

Operation Rutnik (2023-24)

  • Prosecution of 3 defendants for a murder, manslaughter and robbery. Led by King’s Counsel in this case which required complex witness issues, presentation of CCTV, cell site telephone evidence and forensic material.

Operation Ugoru (2023)

  • Led by King’s Counsel prosecuting a young man for the brutal murder of his housemate. Defence of loss of control asserted.  Complex contested psychiatric evidence on the diagnosis of PTSD and ADHD and linked argument as to their admissibility to the legal test.  

Operation Bream  (2023)

  • History sexual abuse scandal, centred on widespread offending against multiple young boys at a residential school in the 1970’s. Client faced an 87 count indictment.  Complex by virtue of its volume, clients aged previous convictions and the fact many complaints had been repeatedly investigated without charge leading to consideration of abuse of process.  Led by King’s Counsel.

R v FG (2023)

  • Representation of man charged with multiple rapes and coercive control. Case necessitated meticulous preparation in considering over 1000 pages of telephone evidence and the marshalling of bundles of such material to challenge the Complainant on.  Detailed preparation and robust cross-examination led to the defendant’s acquittal.  

R v KH (2023)

  • High-profile case, led by King’s Counsel, defending a mother charged with Manslaughter by gross negligence in relation to the death of her infant. The client was a vulnerable young woman, addicted to class A drugs.  The case involved complex challenge to pathology, toxicology and paediatric expertise based upon the lack of studies focussed upon the intoxication and drowning of infants.  It also necessitated the instruction of a psychologist to report on the effect of trauma on memory, a novel approach.  The complexity of the case has led to its listing before a High Court Judge.

Operation Baritone (2022-2023)

  • Led by King’s Counsel in a nine-defendant murder by shooting before a High Court Judge. The client was acquitted of all charges after a 3 ½ month trial.  The case was over 26,000 pages consisting of complex cell site, CCTV, and evidence of a history of previous violence.  Particular complexity arising from history of feud and client’s previous acquittal for murder in a connected case and the Crown’s attempted reliance on those previous matters in the current trial.

Operation Molar (2021)

  • Led junior defending a young man acquitted of conspiracy to murder. Involved the premeditated shooting of 3 rival gang members.  The case was a complex circumstantial prosecution, reliant upon an enormous amount of telecommunication data and cell-site material.  Prepared detailed cross examination of cell site expert, which led to numerous critical concessions. The client was diagnosed as intellectually disabled.  That required tailored and careful communication.  Legal argument was drafted which led to the admission of psychological evidence as to disability.
