Abbi Robinson – Pupil

Introduction

Abbi is undertaking a specialist business and property pupillage under the main supervision of Kirsty White.

Abbi brings a wealth of experience to her role. After completing an MA (Hons) in Classics and Medieval History at Edinburgh University, Abbi embarked on a career in education, rising rapidly to the role of Assistant Principal. In 2022 she transitioned to law, graduating from the MA Law (conversion) with a High Distinction and continuing to excel on the Bar Practice Course, graduating with an Outstanding.

Whilst studying Abbi also gained practical experience as a legal assistant, drafting pleadings in complex business and property matters. Additionally, she volunteered with Citizens Advice where she provided advice on wills, trusts, estates, contract and property disputes.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Abbi was awarded the Pump Court Tax Chambers student prize for her written tax advice and was part of the team that won the Inter-Inns Debating Cup in 2023. She also supported other students in developing their public speaking and debating skills as Co-President of the Inner Temple Debating Society.

Abbi has a strong foundation in advocacy, having represented professional and lay clients in hundreds of civil hearings as a county court advocate prior to beginning pupillage. In this role Abbi gained extensive experience in possession proceedings, consumer credit actions, bankruptcy proceedings and debt claims. Appearing in busy lists developed her ability to think on her feet and deliver concise submissions. She is also confident in handling applications, including set aside, summary judgment, strike out and determination of beneficial interests under TOLATA.

In her first 6 months of pupillage Abbi has observed and assisted in insolvency and commercial matters under Kirsty White, commercial real estate and landlord and tenant matters under David Nuttall, real estate, wills and estates disputes under John Aldis and complex inheritance disputes under Gavin McLeod. Her research for the latter has featured in a subsequent high court judgment.

Abbi has been taking instructions across the entire range of business and property work since 1 April 2026. Her current and recent matters include:

• Advising on a range of contractual dispute matters, including those under the SGA 1979.
• Advising on and providing representation at a range of interim and procedural applications in county court and high court matters, including applications for set aside of default judgments, strike out and applications to substitute parties.
• Advising and providing representation on a range of insolvency matters, including winding up and bankruptcy petitions.
• Advising and providing representation on a range of property matters including possession and neighbour disputes.
• Advising and representing parties regarding a challenge to a deceased’s estate.
• Representing parties at final hearings.
• Undertaking a busy drafting practice including statements of case, witness statements and notices of opposition.

Recently Abbi has co-delivered seminars to professional clients, including The Renters’ Rights Act 2025: Are You Ready? and Just and Equitable Winding Up: Tips, Traps and a Case Study.

Beyond practice, Abbi enjoys spending time with her young daughter, acting, knitting and keeping the peace between her cat and Scottie-Poo puppy.
