We are delighted to announce that William Horwood has been shortlisted for the John Collins Pro Bono Excellence Award at the 2025 Bar Pro Bono Awards. This award is named in honour of the late John Collins, a true pro bono champion. It celebrates individuals who embody his exceptional values and dedication by going above and beyond to enhance access to justice through pro bono work. Nominations are exclusively submitted by Advocate’s Casework Team.

William’s recent pro bono work includes the reported decision of the High Court in Re CX (Jurisdiction: Wrongful Removal to Northern Cyprus) [2025] EWFC 27, a case which raised interesting questions of jurisdiction in the unique political and diplomatic context of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. William’s name was also recently included on the 2025 Pro Bono Recognition List, and over recent years he has also taken part in and completed Advocate’s Pro Bono Pledge and the “25 for 25” challenge, marking 25 years since Advocate was set up.
