Lisa Hancox, leading Robert Ward, represented the prosecution in the trial of Casiim Montgomery and Eessa Alam at Birmingham Crown Court.

Following a jury trial, Montgomery and Alam were each convicted of two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and possession of a bladed article.

The offences arose from an incident on 27 March 2025 in Kitts Green, during which a firearm and a machete were used to inflict injury in broad daylight. On 16 January 2026, Montgomery was sentenced to 27 years’ imprisonment and Alam to 22 years’ imprisonment.

Three others, including the victims of the attempted murder, were charged with violent disorder and convicted after trial.
