Kate Gibson, member of St Philips Chambers, appeared for Radovan Karadžic in his appeal before the United Nations Mechanism for the International Criminal Tribunals (UN-MICT) this week, in The Hague.
Dr. Karadžic, former President of the Republika Srpška, was convicted at first instance for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, for his role in crimes during the war in the Former Yugoslavia. Ms. Gibson, together with US lawyer, Mr. Peter Robinson, argued before the Appeals Chamber of the UN-MICT that his trial had been plagued by procedural and other errors, and asked that the case be remanded for a re-trial.
