Denise Breen-Lawton KC defended a successful business man in his thirties at Sheffield Crown Court last week, against allegations of rape and sexual assault dating back almost 10 years.

The complainant, a former employee, reported him to the police four years after a work night out upon seeing a local newspaper article showing he had taken over a large business. They were discredited in cross-examination using medical, counselling, and business records.

The defendant was unanimously acquitted of all six counts under the Sexual Offences Act, four and a half years after the allegations started.

Denise was instructed by David Harbron of Chivers Solicitors.
