Sophie Laurence was led by Mr Nuvoloni KC of No5 Barristers’ Chambers at the Court of Appeal in the landmark case of R and C (Adoption or Fostering (Re [2024] EWCA Civ 1302.

The Court of Appeal has provided guidance on the approach of the Family Court to post-adoption contact. Lord Justice Baker has ruled that at the stage of making a s.21 Adoption and Children Act 2002 Order, it is the Court who has the responsibility for determining whether there should be ongoing contact between the child and the birth family.
