Andrew Evans successfully represented West Midlands Police in a review of the alcohol and entertainment licence of the Seven Bar in Wednesbury.

The premises had long been associated with incidents of violence and disorder to the dismay of local residents and councillors. The Police launched this application for an Expedited Review by Sandwell Council following a stabbing in May 2022. The victim could be seen on CCTV slumping over the bar, bleeding heavily while the premises continued to trade. The licensing sub-committee heard evidence and representations from all interested parties before determining that the premises licence holder was seriously undermining the licensing objectives. The premises licence was revoked and the interim step of suspension maintained pending any appeal.
