In an article written by Lillian Garnier, one of our family pupils, the unusual circumstances in which a local authority may remove a child who is placed with their prospective adopters – with a view to them being adopted – is discussed, and the legal framework underpinning this, explored. In addition, the familiar routes to challenge placement and adoption orders are re-visited, including some practical considerations to bear in mind when faced with these particular applications.
