We recognise that clients demand specialist knowledge from barristers who are technically astute, excellent in court and aware of wider commercial issues and personable.
The St Philips Regulatory Group is delighted to announce the appointment of James Withers as its new Senior Clerk.
James will be well known to many of our clients, having been part of our criminal clerking team since his arrival in Chambers in 2016.
James studied History at Newman University with the intention of pursuing a career in law. He initially joined St Philips as Junior Criminal Clerk in 2016 and quickly became enthralled with Chambers and the role of a clerk within the legal system.
James then progressed to the position of First Junior Criminal Clerk in 2017 and has continued his development amidst an ever-changing legal landscape.
James now lives in Sutton Coldfield. Away from Chambers, you will probably find him riding his luck on the golf course or battling the elements on some of country’s well-known mountain ranges.
Reacting to his appointment, James said:
“I am thrilled to have been appointed to this role and look forward to picking up where my predecessor, Alan Durham left off. Regulatory work has always been of great interest to me, particularly health and safety and environmental law.
The Group are routinely instructed in matters of the utmost gravity and complexity, and our members receive exceptional feedback from a number of directories. I am excited to be able to work closely with such talented advocates as we look to develop the Group further.
Client care is at the heart of everything I do and I look forward to meeting as many of our clients as possible over the coming months, to better understand their (your) needs.”
Commenting on his appointment, Head of the Regulatory Group, James Puzey said:
“We are delighted with the appointment of James as the Head Clerk for the Regulatory Team at St Philips. He possesses proven leadership ability, a depth of clerking knowledge and a dynamic business approach which this key role demands.
The St Philips Regulatory Group is a broad-based, client-focussed team with a wealth of experience and an outstanding reputation. James is an excellent fit to lead the Regulatory Group forward with strength and confidence.”
