Rushbrooke -v- HM Coroner for West London [2020] EWHC 1612 (Admin)

Sofia Ashraf was instructed by Sarah Huntbach and Sasha Hibbitt of Anthony Collins Solicitors on behalf of Ms Rushbrooke to advise and to draft the application to quash the original inquest in a complex, multi-issue matter involving a deceased who was subject to a Deprivation of Liberty Standards authorisation. Further to a fiat obtained from the Attorney General on 8 May 2019, an application pursuant to S13(1)(b) of the Coroners Act 1988 was successfully made to the Administrative Court on the grounds that the original inquest (and investigation) was insufficient in both nature and scope and that it was beleaguered with procedural irregularities.

The original determination has been quashed and the Coroner has been ordered to conduct a fresh investigation and inquest.
