We are delighted to announce the return of Chris Royle to St Philips.

Chris re-joins with immediate effect from Enterprise Chambers, having originally departed to the North of England in 2011 to be closer to family.  In this time he has built a thriving commercial and chancery practice, particularly in property litigation.  He has also developed extensive expertise in the area of Enforcement and the law of taking control of goods – a field in which he is now recognised as one of the few specialists at the Bar and about which he is in the process of completing a practitioners’ text, due for publication in December 2022. Allied to his enforcement practice, he is also experienced in Non-Domestic Rating and the Council Tax.

“It’s a pleasure to be re-joining the set at which I was a pupil and junior tenant, which has been enabled by the set’s forward-thinking approach to new ways of working post-pandemic.  Being in a position to help grow the set’s strength in my specialist areas, with a view to building a centre of expertise in those areas, makes this an exciting time to be coming back to where my career at the Bar began.” said Chris.

Chris joins our Business and Property Group whose Senior Clerk, Justin Luckman, commented, “For Chris to return to St Philips as an established practitioner, with his acknowledged reputation in his specialist fields, is a real coup for Chambers.  The knowledge he has of these niche areas of law enables us to offer additional high quality legal services to our clients, while assisting Chris in his ambitions to further develop this expertise from St Philips.”
