We recognise that clients demand specialist knowledge from barristers who are technically astute, excellent in court and aware of wider commercial issues and personable.
St Philips Chambers would like to congratulate Lord Justice William Davis on his appointment to the Court of Appeal.
Lord Justice Davis was a founding member of St Philips Chambers. He took silk in 1998 and went on to become the head of the criminal group and then Head of Chambers before becoming a Circuit Judge in 2008. He was appointed a Senior Circuit Judge in 2009 and served as the Recorder of Birmingham (Resident Judge at Birmingham Crown Court) from 2009 to 2014 when he was then elevated to the High Court Bench, becoming Mr Justice Davis.
He was sworn in as a Judge of the Court of Appeal on Tuesday 12th October. The ceremony was presided over by the Lord Chief Justice whose address was replied to on behalf of the Bar by the current Head of Chambers, Richard Atkins QC. Also present was Lord Justice Davis’ former clerk, Chambers Director, Joe Wilson as well as over 50 members of the senior judiciary.
