In this reported case Mr Justice Keehan gave a damning Judgement in respect of Herefordshire County Council’s use of Section 20 accommodation in two separate cases involving 2 children, one who had been accommodated for 9 years and another for 8 years.

The case reviews the use of the Local Authority’s section 20 powers of accommodation which are intended to be an interim voluntary arrangement between a parent and the Local Authority when there is a short-term issue with a child’s well-being.

The full Judgment can be found here.
