Julie is a family law specialist and has developed a practice in public and private children work including cases with an international element. She undertakes work in the Court of Protection and matrimonial finance. Julie has practised in New Zealand where she is qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor.

Julie has extensive experience of representing parents and children in private law disputes. She has additional experience of representing parents through all stages of proceedings while in practice overseas. The nature of the disputes have varied from contact and residence issues to serious allegations of mistreatment, often involving a local authority. Her earlier experience in criminal proceedings is invaluable in fact-finding hearings where incisive advocacy is essential. While she will fight for her clients where necessary, Julie is conciliatory and constructive in seeking solutions for children. She is a qualified mediator and has considerable experience in representing parents in mediation, with an exceptional success rate.

Julie has nearly 20 years of experience in representing parties in care and placement proceedings. These proceedings have included allegations of sexual abuse and domestic violence where mental health is frequently an issue. She has appeared for parents, family members, children and local authorities.
