Introduction

Caroline Covington is a qualified librarian with a BA (Hons) in Information and Library Studies from Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic, now Northumbria University.

She commenced her career in law librarianship at the “magic circle” law firm Clifford Chance, and in 1994 she relocated to the West Midlands to take up the position of Library Manager at Shakespeares Solicitors, a position she held for almost 12 years.

Caroline joined St Philips in December 2005 as Chambers Librarian and is solely responsible for the smooth running of the library and assisting the barristers with their legal research. Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the use of online resources which has been further accelerated by the recent coronavirus pandemic. However, the physical library remains a sizeable resource, as she knows full well, having moved it to a new location within chambers in July 2021!

Caroline is a member of the British & Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL), and the local Association of Law Librarians in Central England (ALLICE) for which she has previously held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer (but not both at the same time!). She is also a member of the Bar Librarians Group.

In her spare time, Caroline enjoys the great outdoors, and can often be found walking in the Brecon Beacons with her husband.
